Summer isn't officially here yet, according to the calendar, but here in sunny San Diego it's been in the 70s
for at least a month. I, like many, tend to brighten things up when weather gets warmer. I guess when you live somewhere where the coldest it gets is about 55 degrees, warmer is a relative term but let's just go with it. I picked my top 10 summer lipstick choices available at the drugstore and included swatches at the bottom! They are not in order of my personal preference. They're in order of how I swatched them. Also, I am playing with new lighting and am not completely happy with it yet, so I apologize for that! On to the picks!

1. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Fire and Ice - I love this color in the summer. It is an almost neon cool toned red. It has a very creamy formula so I would recommend a lip liner. It's a classic Revlon color (that's been around since 1952)!
2. Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya - This is a semi-sheer orange-peach. It gives your lips a juicy look, as the shade name would suggest. These are so comfortable on the lips and absolutely creamy. The Lip Butters are very pigmented for a tinted lip balm!
3. Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick in Purty Persimmon - Another favorite favorite. This is a blazing orange toned red. It's very opaque, matte finish. These lipsticks are very long lasting and leave a stain as they wear. Some may find them too drying but you can always add a gloss or balm on top.
4. Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer in Nova - The Show Offs, or Apocalips, are VERY pigmented. The color on this is a bright, mid-tone Barbie pink. These go on like a cream formula lipstick but as they wear off they become kind of velvety. I don't mind but some might.
5. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Lover's Coral - This is a sheer pink-peach. It gives you the same effect as the Juicy Papaya Lip Butter, but this shade is much more pink than orange. It is a Shine formula from the Super Lustrous line. Love it.
6. Wet n Wild Megalast Lipstick in Don't Blink Pink - Ohemgee, this is a HOT slightly fuchsia pink. Super opaque again. This shade is more warm and bright when compared to Nova.
7. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Berry Couture - This is an orchid/mauve color lippy. It is the Shine finish lipstick so it's sheer but you can build it up a bit. For a more intense and slightly more purple feel, go with Berry Haute. It's a cream formula and more opaque. I prefer the sheer in the summer.
8. Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer in Big Bang - This is a bright cherry red. Not much else to say but I love it! It has the same formula as Nova so the wear is the same.
9. Wet n Wild Megaslicks Balm Stain in A Stiff Pink - bright, cool toned hot pink. Compared to Don't Blink Pink it is much cooler in tone and glossier. It is a balm stain so it leaves your lips hot pink even after the glossiness is gone.
10. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Rendezvous - This is a sheer straight up orange that gives your lips a juicy look, like you've been eating an orange Popsicle. It's also a balm stain so your lips are left tinted!
